Three beliefs behind every space01 / 03

Built for here

Designed for the climate, not the catalogue.

Every place has its own weather, light and memory. We begin by listening to it: where the sun falls in May, where the rain runs in July, which breeze arrives in the evening. Those answers shape the walls, the roofs and every opening.

Built to stay

Materials that grow more beautiful with time.

Lime, stone, timber, terrazzo. We choose materials for how they age, how they hold warmth and how they feel under a bare foot, so a space settles into itself instead of wearing out.

One pair of hands

Founder-led, from first sketch to final detail.

Ar. Salony leads every project herself, from the first conversation to the last detail. No hand-offs and no lost intent: one continuous line of thought running through the whole space.

Have a space in mind?

The studio

One Space is an architectural design studio founded by Ar. Salony, built on a simple belief: a space should be felt before it is seen.

We design homes, workplaces and places of rest from the inside out, beginning with how light enters, how air moves and how a person feels standing in a room. The studio stays deliberately small, so every project receives undivided attention.

A low house with a deep verandah

“Instead of corridors, courtyards. A home should feel closer to a walled garden with rooms in it than to a box with windows.”

Ar. Salony, Founder

01

Crafted to endure

Laterite, lime and teak, chosen because they age gracefully. Nothing that needs replacing in ten years.

02

Light & air

Deep verandahs and courtyards pull the breeze through, so comfort comes from the building first and machines second.

03

A piece of sky

Every home we draw has a patch of open sky that belongs to it alone.

Where we begin

Odisha

Sunlit white walls and deep shadow
A house set back behind trees

Between the ancient and the new

Odisha has built with stone, lime and laterite for a thousand years. We carry that patience into contemporary spaces: clean lines, honest materials, and rooms that answer to the sun and the rain.

Read our thinking

Designed through all five senses

  1. 01

    Sight

Light that moves slowly across a wall, from morning to dusk.

  2. 02

    Touch

Lime, timber and stone that feel warm under a bare foot.

  3. 03

    Sound

Thick walls and courtyards that hold a particular kind of silence.

  4. 04

    Scent

Rain on laterite, a neem in the courtyard, freshly oiled teak.

  5. 05

    Taste

A kitchen that opens onto herbs, morning light and the garden.

What we make

Homes, workplaces
and interiors

01 / 03
Begins withHow you wake up
Ends withThe last door handle

Homes

Courtyard houses, weekend retreats, apartments reimagined from the inside out. Planned around how a family actually lives, in a climate with a real monsoon.

Begins withHow people gather
Ends withDaylight on every desk

Workplaces

Offices, clinics and studios that are calm to work in and simple to run. Daylight first, air-conditioning second.

Begins withWhat already exists
Ends withA palette you can touch

Interiors

A small palette of honest materials, drawn all the way down to the door handle, for homes and workplaces that are already built.

From a single room to a whole plot, every project receives the same care: the same hands, the same drawings, the same attention to how it will feel.

With every project

Listening to the site

01

Before drawing, a day on the land: where the light comes from, where the rain goes, what can be seen and what should stay private.

A quiet room in plaster and teak

Drawings

Every detail is drawn before it is built.

The height of a window sill, the inside of a wardrobe, where a switch falls under your hand. Every decision is made on paper, where it costs an hour, instead of on site, where it costs a week.

What we hold true when we design

Our first projects are still taking shape. Until they are ready to be shown, here is what every space we make will be built on.
